I started off as a street photographer, snapping away at natural, day-day scenes in London and on travels abroad. I thrive freezing time on peoples raw, organic faces when they think no one is watching. I then got skilled up at the London School of Photography and fell in love with posed portraiture; I quickly became fascinated with the science behind manipulating light and I enjoy directing subjects.
Wedding photography is just brilliant, after I graduated at LSP I dived straight into this. I have high somatic awareness which helps me tune into the emotions of those around me, I adore picking up on both the mundane and special moments throughout the day. I take the fly on the wall approach generally, it allows the couple to relax knowing that everything will be documented for them. It's a real joy to capture the detail and emotion that can sometimes be missed, and it's very rewarding when couples are pleased with the result.
I love to shoot in black and white because it enables me to see a real distinction of detail and beauty in the frame without being distracted or fluffed by colour. I'm most influenced by Vivian Maier and Henri-Cartier- Bresson; both iconic street photographers and life observers. I do however of course shoot in colour, especially for colourful events such as weddings.
